Accessible Düsseldorf
Accessible Düsseldorf
Visitors can discover the State capital together with their carers on one of the accessible city tours or trips. Tours in sign language, tours for guests in wheelchairs and tours for blind and visually impaired guests are on offer.
Culture
The theatre, the opera and many other cultural institutions are equipped with wheelchair bays. The Stadtmuseum (City Museum) also offers a tour for hearing-impaired and deaf people once every six months. A guided tour for blind and visually impaired people is also offered once every six months under the title "Touching allowed!”. Visitors have the opportunity to make their own way through the collections with a brochure in braille or large print and to touch selected objects from the city’s history.
Recreation
On the site of the former Federal German Garden Show in Düsseldorf’s Südpark (South Park), there is the opportunity for extended walks and a wide range of other offers, such as farmer’s gardens and herb gardens, a health food store and a petting zoo, for younger and older guests to discover. The park provides more than 170 workplaces for people with disabilities. Two disabled parking spaces can be found just in front of the café building. All areas can also be accessed without steps. The minigolf course is equipped with wide, paved pathways and a tactile guidance system for people with visual impairments.
